Sikhs celebrate Holla Mohalla with great enthusiasm in Phalguna month, a day after Holi. It is celebrated every year at Anandpur Sahib in Punjab and all over India by Sikhs. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Guru of Sikhs, started Holla Mohallas as a congregation for learning and flaunting armed skills and mock battles. It was started to induce the qualities of defence preparedness and bravery in the people. Apart from mock battles, the poetry and music competitions are held in this 3-day festival. In this festival, the army members of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, also called the Nihang Singhs, exhibit their swordsmanship and horse riding skills with mock battles.
